Elevated dog bowls are perfect for fast eaters: these dog bowls will slow down eating, and will prevent some rare, but serious conditions: dog bloat (or volvulus), and mega-esophagus, which is a condition when the food accumulates into the esophagus instead of descending to the stomach. This can lead to regurgitation and vomiting, and eventually very serious health issues. Again, with an elevated dog feeder, the dog's head being more raised as he eats, gravity will draw the food down into his stomach and minimize the risk of the problems mentioned above.
We personally have noticed that, since we elevated our Black Labrador's feeder, he actually eats much more slowly, chewing his food rather than gulping it!
