Would you eat off the floor? Why should your dog…(or your cat for that matter) Many dog owners ask themselves: "Are elevated dog feeders good for dogs"? The healthy benefits of elevated dog feeders are highly acknowledged by veterinarians and other dog experts, and include the following: Cleanliness and hygiene Keeping the dog’s dining area clean is essential to a sanitary life. Better posture and comfort If a dog has a back or neck problem, a raised dog feeder will certainly help him/her to eat and drink more comfortably. Easy swallowing Imagine trying to swallow food and/or water with your head pointing down! Some dogs with mega-esophagus or other conditions find it very difficult to do so… Slow down eating Perfect for fast eaters: your dog will not gulp his/her food from a raised dog feeder. You can even add a special slow feed dog bowl to the dog feeder to slow him/her down even more . CLEANLINESS OF DINING AREA Elevated dog dishes help keeping the food and water within the bowl, instead of on the floor. In order to facilitate swallowing, dogs tend to lift their heads after eating or drinking. As the dog raises his head, the water that doesn't get swallowed will spill onto the floor. Our Black Labrador, Bird used to spill so much water all over our kitchen floors before giving him an elevated feeder, the joke around the house was that in a way, we had the cleanest floors in town since we had to wipe them off so often… But with his raised dog feeder, he does not need to lift his head so much, and the water drips right back into the water bowl. HEALTHY BENEFITS Have you ever wondered why some dogs eat laying down in front of their floor level food bowl? It is probably because they find the food to be set too low, and since they have to reach down to eat when standing up, causing discomfort to their neck and shoulders, they just lay down. That make sense! A raised dog feeder will remedy this problem: bringing the food at a higher level will definitely help these dogs. Elevated dog feeders also reduce food and water gulping. Elevated dog bowls are perfect for fast eaters: these dog bowls will slow down eating, and will prevent some rare, but serious conditions: dog bloat (or volvulus), and mega-esophagus, which is a condition when the food accumulates into the esophagus instead of descending to the stomach. This can lead to regurgitation and vomiting, and eventually very serious health issues.
| "When my parents realized that my eating posture could be the cause of my vomiting, they switched my floor level dog bowl to a Whiner and Diner elevated dog feeder. Now, I can eat comfortably, I don't need to bend down to reach my food, and no more getting sick after eating...And all of this from a stylish wine crate raised dog feeder!" Again, with an elevated dog feeder, the dog's head being more raised as he eats, gravity will draw the food down into his stomach and minimize the risk of the problems mentioned above.
We personally have noticed that, since we elevated our Black Labrador's feeder, he actually eats much more slowly, chewing his food rather than gulping it! Elevated dog bowls are also much more comfortable for older dogs with arthritis, bad backs, necks, shoulders, joint or muscular pain. An elevated dog dish will provide him/her with a more pleasant eating and drinking experience, since the dog bowl is at a more natural body level. The feeders are outfitted with stainless steel pet bowls , which also offer extra healthy benefits: stainless steel has been the material of choice for food processing, dairy and brewery industries. It is durable, sanitary, rust-free and non-leaching. Such bowls will last a lifetime. FUNCTIONALITY If bending causes you discomfort, you won't need to bend down to pick up empty or put down heavy full dog dishes. The stainless steel bowls are also light enough to be removed for easy cleaning and filling. What customers have to say
We have received the dog feeder and love it! Our dog Cody, recently had his left front leg amputated due to cancer. The ease with which he eats from the elevated dish allows him to satisfy his appetite every day. This has helped to accelerate his recovery greatly! We look forward to getting more dishes for our other dog and our cat. Thank you! Lisa — Denver, CO
I love the dog diner, which is perfect for my 16 year old arthritic Welsh Terrier. I don't know why I didn't get him an elevated dog feeder long ago. My much younger Rat Terrier uses it too. It's a pleasure to look at, and it doesn't "scoot" at all. Thank you for a great recycled pet product! Julie — Chicago, IL |
