Until now, wine and pets didn’t necessarily mix.
Sure, people enjoyed them both, but rarely did the two ever meet. Connecticut couple, Catherine and Stephen Simms, changed that when they created Whiner & Diner—a pet accessory company that make custom feeders and other pieces from repurposed and recycled wine crates. How chic!
Our furry friends everywhere are barking and purring their praises for these posh pet feeders, because they don’t just add a stylish and sophisticated touch to your home, they are actually beneficial to the health of your pet. Here's the scoop from veterinarians: Feeding bowls that are flush to the floor can cause strain on the neck, joints and digestion of your dog or cat. With an elevated food platform, eating is much more comfortable.
Consider it a pet table, because after all, you wouldn’t like eating off the floor either, would you? Priced from $160, depending on size and customization, no two feeders are alike. They are handcrafted, hand painted, and quite sturdy thanks to the non-skid feet and weight of the wood, which of course means it stays put while even the most eager of feasters chows down.
Getmilkshake.com Elevated Pet Feeders to Fit Every Home We are loving our Whiner and Diner feeder made out of recycled wine boxes. It not only looks great but is solid enough to keep from getting easily kicked over and spilled...which is an important consideration if you or your pets are likely to knock into it. Whatever your style, one of these elevated feeders will certainly tickle your fancy! PawNation.com - Kristen Seymour Pet accessories that double as home fashion accessories. Brilliant!
Whiner & Diner features pet accessories made out of wine crates. I was instantly captivated by their elevated pet feeders made of authentic wooden wine crates. My pooches eat out of pink plastic bowls. Frankly, it's embarrassing, (especially for my male Boston Terrier). Why is this a problem? Because everything in my house is a home accessory item that says something about my style and taste (or lack thereof). This goes for the dog bowls on my kitchen floor. Imagine how much hipper, trendy, and stylish my kitchen would look with dog bowls encased in an authentic wine crate? How much more personality it would have! Marketing to Women Online - Holly Buchanan Where form and function meet Fido: Kibble and Chardonnay
I was delighted to learn about the Stamford, Connecticut, company Whiner & Diner. They create awesome elevated dog feeders, beds, and toy boxes out of reclaimed wine crates from European and Californian vineyards. (I’d say they “upcycle,” but I really hate that word, so I won’t.) For some reason I feel like these would smell really good, kind of woodsy and wine-y mixed together. Phetched.com Don't Forget Fido
My dog Lucy, died 3 years ago, and boy do I still miss her! Particularly when I stumble across Whiner and Diner pet beds. What a comfy, cozy idea - and talk about up-cycling materials that would otherwise find themselves in the landfill! Catherine and Stephen Simms have created luxurious, comfortable and eco-chic pet feeders and pet beds. CT green scene- Heather Divine Doggie Dining I am always impressed by companies and designers who can look at what would normally be a waste product and imagine it as something much grander and more functional. I’m always telling my husband not to throw things away considering I want to “manufacture something from it.” No inspiration has struck me yet (but for one kooky view involving plastic hangers), so I love to see when others strike gold with such inspiration. They are handmade from wooden wine boxes marked with the names and logos of the vineyards they come from. They are available and several sizes and customizable, and can accommodate your four-legged friends no matter how big or small they are. And of course there’s no sacrificing your decor, that is one doggie bowl you won’t want to hide. That would produce a perfect gift for that friend of yours who is both a wine lover and a pet lover. greenyourdecor.com- Jeannae Chic and Practical
Though I don't have an obsession with food I do get almost as excited about it as Frankie (my four-legged officemate) does. Yesterday I came across this dog feeder made from an actual wine crate. Not only does it look chic, but it's also very practical. Tall dogs don't need to bend too low to eat, uncouth dogs can't push their dishes around so easily, and lazy dogs have both dishes side by side. I know putting two dishes in one stand isn't new but there's probably at least one reader who's dazzled by the concept. Whiner and Diner (appropriate name, yes?) uses crates from US and European (oooh la la) wineries. Though I'm trying to focus on the aesthetics and practicality of the feeder, a little voice in my head says Frankie would look sophisticated if he drank wine from this feeder instead of beer from a bowl.
